A few decades ago the obvious cause for a broken heart in a young individual was romance and love.

Prof. Prakash Deedwania, University of California, San Francisco, USA, says “India has the dubious distinction of being known as the coronary and diabetes capital of the world.

Statistics says:

1. Four people die of heart attack every minute in India and the age group is mainly between 30 and 50.

2. Twenty-five per cent of heart attack deaths occur in people less than 40.

3. Nine hunderd people under 30 die due to heart disease in India every day.

The causes are many, like Smoking, High Cholesterol Levels, Hypertension, Obesity, Stress, Diabetes Mellitus, Genetics, Physical inactivity, Unhealthy food habits, Lack of awareness, etc.

To make people aware of the things with all the scientific data and proven data, Let’s all share the things for betterment of the individuals & society as a whole.

It is requested to all to share the valuable data regards to food items, healthy food habits, etc., so the main causes of heart disease like High Cholesterol Levels, Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus will be under control or may vanish from India.

To start with let’s discuss about Table Salt:

Is Table Salt good for us? Absolutely No will be the answer. Because natural sea salt or rock salt or black salt, has more than 84 minerals in addition to Sodium Chloride. These minerals are essential to our body.

Table Salt is a convenience food of the modern age. It is produced by refining the natural salt by chemical processes to make it look white, finely granular so that it looks nice and flows out salt shakers easily. In the process all the 84 minerals are lost and a host of health damaging chemicals are added to the ‘Table Salt’. Every grain of this good-looking table salt will contribute to future Hypertension!

Iodine based chemical is added to table salt to make it ‘iodized’. However, inorganic chemical based salts do not get absorbed in our body and are excreted by kidney in to urine. For people with iodine deficiency (like Thyroid problem) it is better to eat seaweed, kelp or kale for a good natural dose of iodine.

Sub :  Standards of Refined Iodised Salt – regarding.

As you are aware, the refined iodised salt industry, has made significant strides in the last decade. From a mere 2 units  with 30 Lakh tones capacity in 1992, producing about 60,000 tonnes per annum of refined Iodised Salt, today we have 32 units with an installed capacity of 24.57 Lakh tones producing over 7.5 Lakh tones of Iodised Salt. Correspondingly its market share also went up from 2.2% in 1992 to 17% in 1999.

Taking advantages of this growing demand and the absence of any specifications for refined Iodised Salt. Many Iodised Salt manufacturers have commenced marketing powdered, dried Iodised Salt in the guise of refined/free flow Iodised Salt. Printing very much high MRP on the polypacks. A number of instances of mis-use of transport concession offered to Refined Iodised Salt under ‘C’ priority rail rakes have also come to light.

The issue of fixing separate standards for refined Iodised Salt has been engaging our attention for quite some time. The matter is under the consideration of Bureau of Indian Standards. Meanwhile, it has been decided that refined Iodised Salt should conform to the following specifications. Only those consignments which conform to the specifications can avail rail movement under Priority ‘C’ :
